These small pieces were done for a repeat client and I think one of my biggest fans. LOL! I used homemade chalk paint, made from the clients leftover paint, for the first coat and Buttermilk Cream milk paint from Homestead House Paint Company for the finishing coats. Once the base coat was dry I applied Hemp Oil in spots before applying top coat to get this affect. I dried it with my hair dryer just to see what would happen. Each piece was finished with clear and dark wax.
I changed the base colour on the two smaller candlesticks, but painted the tallest one with milk paint right over the original finish. It chipped beautifly.
Floating shelf finished the same way as the frame
I used homemade chalk paint and wax to finish this piece.
well done! great "new" look
ReplyDeleteThanks. I love how a bit of paint and a little work can change a piece so much.
DeleteLove those candlesticks! They'd look awesome on mantel or beside a tub!
ReplyDeleteI too love how they turned out. I didn't take a close up, but they ended up looking very similar to the finish on the picture frame.
DeleteLove these candle sticks. I'm a new follower from sister-number-5.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteLove the candle holders. I also just purchased some homestead paint, should have some new projects soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks. You can order them through the website or pick them up at the Apple Box Boutique in Edmonton.
